“Afloat Image.” Ceres Gallery. New York. Solo Show.
Cotton ball packaging as the moon. Nice fog in the foreground. When I did this one, I had just returned from a two week retreat at the Hambidge Center For Creative Arts and Sciences in Rabun Gap, Georgia. It’s reflected in the subject matter here. Calm. Peace. Serenity. Hambidge is a great place to work. I do believe the ether there is charged with ideas.
Incredibly peaceful and the colors add to the feeling.

Those are my Sunday/Monday colours!

My Monday color is white. Do you really blend Sunday and Monday?

Not quite – Sunday is pale pink and Monday pale powdery blue with white edges. The rest of the week is quite vivid.

Do you have colors for types if sentences that you write? Or do some of your sentences sound like music?

No, I don’t have colours for sentences but I do sometimes see type in the air when people are talking, or when I speak. Once I’ve noticed it, it’s quite hard to ‘switch it off”
Music doesn’t evoke colours for me and I like to be quiet when I write.

A misty picture is very evocative at this autumnal time. The colours are especially good – dark skies against mist, but also that blue, with the link between mistiness and the metaphorical blues.

Thanks Denise! Now that I “see” where you took your hike, I can see how this piece resonates with you. Do you get beautiful mist like that?

Where did my gravatar go? I was at the Apple store yesterday. It’s gone now if I post on my phone. Back to the computer. Rats! So much for misty fog talk huh?

Jenny, I have to respond to your seeing the type when someone talks. Very synaesthesia-esque! I once was half sleeping in a New York hotel room and heard people coming down the hall. Their voices formed musical notes. And visually I imagined the notes stretched out, elongated down the hall, the closest “note” being the largest!
