Now that I’ve become gluten free, the lure of pizza is gone for me. I probably would not choose this subject matter if I were to do this collage today. Something like roasted Brussels sprouts would take root.
Being gluten free has not freed me from allergies yet, however. And when I think of how I constructed all these collages, I feel a little stopped up. The rubber cement evaporated in my sinus cavities. Glue stick is good, but it can take the finish off magazine slick.
Still, I love the process of putting one image on top of another. When I return to painting, as I plan to do soon, I will miss the ease with which I could construct something by merely trying it out in one spot, then another, before gluing it down and calling it a day.
I like this one. And sympathize with the allergies. You could try acrylic matte medium as an adhesive and gloss medium as a finish. I use these and have no trouble with them – no fumes, water clean up. Never had a moment of any kind of reaction to them.

Thanks, Claudia, for your recommendation. I could use matte finish, too so I don’t get any additional shine. I think I will try that. I have always known about it. I don’t know why I didn’t do it. Imagine! 100! Thanks. I loved your post today.

Gosh, life without pizza – a sandwich by any other name – can’t imagine what simple snacking is like without them.
Like the collage, by the way….

Thank you, Jenny! Yes, trying to do without wheat and dairy took some doing. And pizza is the very embodiment!

I’ve given up dairy, but pizza – that’s a tough one! Great collage – that bright pepper in the front really grabs me. Digitally on my screen – I’d swear that you had grouped these objects together in reality (except the sky) – as the elements work so well together. Each piece has an overlapping rhythm.

Thanks for your attention to the visual. I know what you mean about the digital. Sometimes I look at these and think “Wow!” if only I had this medium (computer) while I was doing them! There is a three dimensional quality when they are on the screen.
