“Afloat” Image. Ceres Gallery. New York. Solo Show.
Explosions. I like them. Only visually, mind you. I don’t like the destruction. I like the puffiness of them, the force, the way they can interject a lovely cloud into a piece. Again, the juxtaposition of a vacant auditorium with surprise.
As Karen Tauches, a curator, art critic and artist in Atlanta once said, natural disaster is part of my aesthetic. This, if you have to assign meaning to it, could be an accident in an adjacent chemical lab.
There is also something about the assorted mismatched chairs that fits with the explosion idea. I am not sure why, but it seems so to me!

I know. It makes the scene a little more unsettling, if that is possible. Like the situation was not so secure in the first place. Thank you for your comment!

I like explosions, too. Here is a link to a British artist you might find interesting. I have a postcard of this in my kitchen.

I love that sculpture! The shadows on the walls and ceiling are part of the piece. Very nice. Threatening, as it reminds me of those homemade bombs of nails and rusty pipes. Thanks for introducing me to this artist!

I’m glad you checked her out. Several years ago I saw an installation by her called Thirty Pieces of Silver. It has remained in my head ever since and I’m trying to weave it into a story I’ve got on the go.

I would expect that from a synaesthete like you. To go from one sense to another. Or one artform to another. I bet it is an amazing story.

Steady on! Still in its infancy, just a glimmer of an idea… but thanks for your faith 😉

Don’t worry. I am not one to encourage so the person feels pressure to do something “done.” And perfect. I like the idea of doing a five minute sketch. Otherwise I get so intimidated by the white page. Or the blank gallery walls. I like the idea of just fooling around…….Hard to get in that mind-set. A struggle for me.
