WhIle I am on the subject of my daughter’s Prom, she and I, of course, had to go Prom dress shopping. For Senior Prom.
Two Prom dresses. One remade and shortened (Her date was short all of a sudden.) The second one, altered for $225.00. Yup, you don’t want to know what the dress cost. Five pair of shoes: One pair, too high for the first Prom dress. One perfect for the first Prom dress. One not as dressy as it should be. (We are into the second Prom dress now.) One pair of shoes sprayed with two cans of Krylon glitter spray (The story of the glitter sprayed shoes is saved for another blog.) And, finally, the perfect pair.
Prom went off in the perfect fashion. Drama, dreams and delirium.
I want to go back to listening to the garbage removal truck outside!
Wow! Did she keep all of the shoes? Yikes…$225 for alterations! You’re right, Hollis, I don’t want to know what the dress cost. You’re such a good mom! 🙂

Yes, I hope people take these postings the right way. Had one on Facebook today who went into a rant! Like our daughter was showing off or something, because the woman who was ranting bought her daughter her Prom and graduation clothes at the Goodwill. As she was ranting, our daughter was wearing a two dollar top we got in Sebastopol, California three years ago. Do not want to offend. Just trying to be funny! Guess not all take it that way! 😦

Ugh, sorry to hear that, Hollis. That’s why I avoid Facebook…people can be mean! 🙂 Bloggers are nice and friendly.

No we took back the glitter ones, the not dressy enough ones and the too high ones, leaving our daughter with a pair to wear with each dress!

School prom next year for us… I wonder what that will bring for a girl who lives in DMs
I do like the idea of glitter sprayed shoes for a prom though.

I knew you would like the idea of those glitter sprayed shoes, Denise. So silver and sparkly! And what are DMs? I am sure they are hip and trendy and cool. Having a mother like you!

One of our young teachers got married last year – traditional white dress, church wedding but underneath her dress she was wearing her beloved DMs (she’s our religious studies teacher, by the way!).

What are DMs?

They are Doc Marten’s boots – very iconic over here and worn by people with a certain ‘street’ style. If you googled Doc Marten you’d come up with some images, I’m sure. I’ve always fancied a pair of floral ones on the quiet 🙂

Of course!!!!!!! DMs!!!!! I know Doc Martens. Yes, they are street-like here.(but they say the fashion designers get their ideas from SoHo NYC street looks) And of course London!!! DMs. Yes. And floral would be nice. Even out loud!!!

Yes! Girls are not easy. But my daughter is a little companion. Today we got Frosty back.(not fixed) And tomorrow she will help me take the birds to the bird doctor, not an easy task since one of them always escapes, banks and heads for the windows. An annual thing!

Well, a girl can never have enough pairs of shoes, can she. She looked fabulous in that long dress – absolutely stunning.

Thank you, Jenny. It had a crystal/rhinestone belt, which was its only decoration.
