Wild Horses. I read somewhere a long time ago that the Rolling Stones’ song was written about one of the band members having his first child and refusing to play at one of their concerts.
It is a romantic thought. How true it is, I don’t know, but when I hear the song rarely, like in a Walmart or Target, I do think wistfully that there is something nice going on. That beneath all the scruff and electric guitar, a new life came first.

‘Wild horses….wouldn’t drag me away…’ I think the lyric goes something like that. Its how we all feel about our babies. Good old Rolling Stones, still rocking after all these years, most of them grandfathers by now 😉

Hollis, I didn’t realize this, but having been always so deeply moved by this song – it takes on so much added meaning now. Is this particular element to your installation a collage? The mountains behind those horses are looking quite ominous; I’m enjoying reading about the different parts to your installation – love your blog!

Yes. I am using the blog vehicle to show the 100 collages that were part of the “Afloat” installation. One per day. In addition to the 100 collages, there were 100 rings as well scattered across a fairly large gallery. I am drifting in and out of thoughts about the collages NOW as I think of them now. The things I write on the blog are not the motivations for doing the pieces for the exhibit. The collages are 5″ x 5″. And in the reader they are almost life size! Thanks for your interest!
