Here is Orion Crook at the closing reception of his curatorial exhibition “Living Case.” His face is framed by one of the rings I used in my installation, “Afloat” in New York a few years back. He used these squishy rings I made in a different way, making them a part of one of his themes, art is life, subject to decay. They worked well with the partially rough and jagged walls of eyedrum.
The rings also gave a person slight disorientation while entering the gallery, as he put them on the floor as well. Not knowing where the ceiling, floor and walls were, as these rings ran throughout…over, under and around the gallery.
I am very happy to have been a part of such a refreshingly creative group exhibition, filled with music, visual art, living creatures, plants, lighting, costumes, neon and performance art! An asset to Atlanta’s “art scene!”
Such fun, Hollis. Is Orion wearing a skirt?

Yes, it is Orion’s version of a kilt. Or a pleated skirt. Or a sarong. Anyway, looks good on him, don’t you think?

Your floating “O’s” really added a new dimension to the scenery, Hollis. I like how you show how generous you are with collaboration and giving part of your original art to be part to Orion Crook’s installation art!

Actually as it turned out, I was honored. Robin, the show was incredible. Orion had a singular vision and curated a show in the true, but sadly, rare sense of the word: a group show with a solo perspective! He had a person crawling around with a box full of dirt on his/her back. ( at the reception. ) Moss covered chairs. Cocktails, called “living drinks”.( I did not have one!) were passed around held high on trays, all very elegant! A hologram of green grass projected on a wall very low amid a purple and red lit gallery. A truly wonderful reception and exhibition, suited for Andy Warhol, to be sure.

This was such a lively and interesting comment back about my response, Hollis. I loved that you knew I would eventually slowly read your details of Orion’s show. I was swept away with so many interesting forms of natural art he incorporated! Really nice sharing on your part. Collaboration may bring great future projects. One never know how connections and bridges are built, Hollis. 🙂

That’s true Robin! I really love to collaborate as painting can be lonely.
